Dear sir,

I am writing to express my concern regarding the rampant and indiscriminate use of plastic bags in our society. As it seems more convenient to use plastic bags to carry goods, their widespread use is creating a significant problem for our environment.

Plastic bags are non-biodegradable and take 100 years to decompose, leading to massive amounts of non-biodegradable waste. As it is non-biodegradable, it becomes more hazardous to the environment, especially when it enters the water bodies and food chain, causing a significant break in the food chain. Plastic bags are a threat to humanity.

Moreover, the process of producing plastic bags consumes a lot of energy, contributing to the depletion of natural resources and causing global warming. Also, the process of recycling plastic bags is very challenging; they generally end up in land fields and oceans, where they remain for years and years, causing pollution.

As responsible citizens, we have to find a good alternative to plastic bags. The government should also promote eco-friendly products such as cotton paper bags, jute bags, etc.

I argue to the public to use cloth or reusable bags while shopping and reduce their dependence on plastic bags. It’s time we all come together and take steps to protect our environment, and using equivalent bags is a small step in the right direction.

Yours sincerely,

[Your Name]
