KHUDIRAM BASU
The great patriot Kshudiram Basu was born in Midnapore in 1889. From his boyhood Kshudiram was a spirited boy. During his school life Kshudiram came to be associated with a revolutionary party. Following the command of his party he left for Muzaffarpur with Prafulla Chaki on a mission to kill Kingsford, a tyrant magistrate.
They threw bombs on the car of Kingsford but the tyrant magistrate Kingsford was not in the carriage and so he escaped unhurt though other passengers were killed. A few days later Kshudiram was arrested and sentenced to death The fearless patriot faced death with ‘Vande Mataram’ in his lips and became a martyr.
